Passing of the Ash Grove

Victims of the region-wide infestation of ash trees by the emerald ash borer, the grove that stood on a knoll at Columbia Parkway and Valley Street recently fell to the saws of the Minneapolis Park Board. It is a sad loss, along with many boulevard trees lost to the ash borer as well as the winds of the Summer Solstice Storm. (May the oak grove that faced the ash across the “grassy bowl” remain strong and beautiful.)
