A Zero Waste Conversation: Recycling as an Economic Development Tool

A Zero Waste Conversation:
Recycling as an Economic Development Tool

Wednesday, Feb. 17, 6:30 p.m.

Northeast Library, 2200 Central Avenue NE

Waste reduction isn’t just good for the environment; additionally it’s economically beneficial. Join Council Member Kevin Reich and Eureka Recycling for a community conversation about how recycling can function as part of a strong local economy and jobs creator. Some of the guest presenters will include Eastside Food Co-op, who has achieved close to 90% waste diversion and partnered with the City to pilot plastics recycling; Better Futures Enterprises, whose unique recycling programs provide education and job training while diverting hundreds of tons of materials from landfills; and Ward One-based Momentum Enterprises, which empowers people facing employment barriers and partners with the City of Minneapolis on mattress recycling.

We hope you’ll join us for this timely community conversation. For further information, contact Lisa Brock at lisa.brock@minneapolismn.gov or 612-673-2201.

The meeting site is wheelchair accessible. For other reasonable accommodations such as a sign language interpreter or materials in an alternative format, please contact Lisa Brock at lisa.brock@minneapolismn.gov or 612-673-2201 by February 9, 2016.
