Learn to Swim with the Park Board

Summer Swimming lessons for various ages and skill levels are available at Lupient Water Park, North Commons Water Park, Lake Nokomis Beach, Wirth Beach and Webber Natural Swimming Pool. Youth swim lessons are offered for various ages and skill levels.

  • Parent-Tot: For children ages 1–4 accompanied by a parent. Participants focus on water adjustment activities and supported movements
  • Pre-Level 1: Introductory class for ages 3–4. Water adjustment and further skills involving movement in the water will be taught along with combined skills for basic forms of swimming and appropriate water safety skills
  • Level 1: For the non-swimmer ages 4–5 years and older. Participants become familiar with the aquatic environment and create a strong foundation to aquatics and safety skills
  • Level 2: For beginner swimmers, 5 years of age and older. Students learn water safety and fundamentals of basic swimming
  • Level 3: Students increase swimming skills, learn basic stroke development, and practice deep water safety
  • Level 4: Students develop confidence in strokes and safety skills beyond earlier levels.
  • Jr. Lifeguard: Students learn basic content in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding/ CPR/ First AID for the Professional Rescuer

Two-week sessions are held starting June 20 through mid-August with eight lessons per session. The first session at Webber Natural Swimming Pool starts June 21. Lesson fees are $55 for Minneapolis residents and $65 for non-residents with scholarships available. Email aquatics@minneapolisparks.org for more information.
